Lymba Research Institute

About Lymba Research Institute

In 2018, we launched Lymba Research Institute also aka LYMBARI. It is an independent and a nonprofit institution dedicated to doing research studies and carrying on debates on the impact of socioeconomics, law, culture, education, agriculture, sport, to name a few, on the internal and external trade and foreign policies of Liberia, Morocco, and other African countries. Lymba Research Institute focuses on issues ranging from politics and security to economics, trade, education, and business, from social dynamics to civil society and culture. Through research, publications, and scholarly exchanges, the Lymba Research Institute seeks to encourage thoughtful debate and intends to inform relevant government agencies and institutions, business, and academic communities regarding the results of those research results.
The institute’s Board of Directors exercises the overall direction and supervision of LYMBA and its Research Institute. If you want to join the Board of directors, I encourage you to so soon.

In a month or so, registration of the Lymba Research Institute with the Internal Revenue Service and the states of New Jersey and New York will begin. The registration with the IRS will enable Americans to get a tax write off for their donations to the Lymba and its research foundation. After that, we will reconstruct parts of the website to accommodate a donation capability and then finally begin to work.

A Message from Lymba Board Chair Dr. Abu Mohammed Fofana

The past decades were unusually turbulent for member countries of the Mano River Union composed of Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. Ebola virus hit the region and killed thousands following an internecine brutal civic warfare in Liberia which also killed an inestimable number of Liberians causing an exodus of over half a million, destroying the infrastructure of the country, and rendering the West African nation one of the poorest in the universe.

Key stakeholders, including the Mano River Union, Morocco, ECOWAS, the African Union, the United Nations, Europe, and the United States are concern over the resurgence of political instability in the region and are collaborating with regional governments on how to ensure continued progress, stability, and prosperity. United states and other Europeans were instrumental in deescalating and mitigating the spread of the Ebola Virus. Despite the fear of the spread of Ebola, the Royal Air-Maroc continued to pick up and drop off passengers during the crisis. Morocco’s commitment to providing educational opportunities to hundreds of Liberian and other African students is also commendable.

During these unsettled times, Lymbari mission is ever more critical to building a platform that encourages experts, research fellows, and government agencies, to name a few examples to work in tandem to analyze and debate issues that may positively impact socioeconomic, political and trade policies, long-term strategic decisions, successful and sustainable relationships.

While events such as wars and plagues are deleterious even to developed country let along with the developing nations, they can also serve as an opportunity on the horizon depending on how hard the public and private citizens and institutions work to put in place policies intended to identify, analyze, mitigate or prevent future risks that may disrupt the lives of an entire community and country.

The excellent work we have started will only continue through volunteerism and the generous support of donors and corporate sponsors. Thanks to the collective endeavor on the part of Lymba Research Institute’s volunteers composed of recognized scholars, former diplomats, professionals, and colleagues from a variety of backgrounds. Thanks, in particular, to Global Project Consulting Group and Project Management University Research Institute for paying for the costs of building and maintaining the website. Each volunteering effort and generous donation will enable Lymba Research Institute to achieve its mission. We encourage anyone to join our membership circles to ensure that the important work of the Lymba Research Institute continues unimpeded well into the future.

Sincerely,
Dr. Abu Mohammed Fofana
